Responsibilities

As a Systems Mechanic SHK at Göhler, you’ll take on a variety of exciting tasks. Your daily routine is diverse and combines various fields of work – sometimes you’ll work like a welder, sometimes like a pipefitter, and at other times more like an installer. It’s precisely this versatility that makes the profession so interesting.

Your main tasks include the assembly and installation of systems in industry and skilled trades. You’ll lay metal or plastic pipelines, precisely weld them together, and ensure that all systems are leak-proof and functional. Using modern measurement technology, you’ll check the quality of your work and perform repairs or maintenance as needed.

Also part of your responsibilities is the commissioning of new systems: You’ll review technical drawings, implement plans, and work in a team on complex projects. Manual dexterity is just as important as a good technical understanding.

The profession is physically demanding, but never monotonous – you’ll be on construction sites sometimes, in workshops at other times, and at the end of the day, you’ll immediately see what you’ve created. As a Systems Mechanic, you are an indispensable part of modern utility systems and ensure that our customers can work reliably.

Training

The apprenticeship to become a Systems Mechanic SHK typically lasts 3.5 years and combines practical experience on construction sites with sound technical knowledge from vocational school. From the very beginning, you’ll learn everything you need for daily work in systems construction – from laying and welding pipelines and handling technical drawings to commissioning complete systems.

In the first year of your apprenticeship, the focus is on the fundamentals: You’ll practice metal processing, safe handling of tools, and initial welding techniques. Gradually, more demanding tasks will be added – such as assembling heating and air conditioning systems, installing supply systems, or performing leak tests.

What’s particularly exciting: From early on, you’ll work on real projects at Göhler, always accompanied by experienced installers and senior installers. This way, you’ll gain valuable practical experience and directly see how your work contributes to the bigger picture later on.

With good performance, you can even shorten the apprenticeship. In the end, you’ll hold an IHK certificate in your hands, which opens many doors for you – whether as a skilled worker, a specialist in welding or piping technology, or as a basis for your later advancement to senior installer, master craftsman, or technician.
